What is the temperament of cavapoos?

Cavapoos are very intelligent, playful, affectionate, easy to train, outgoing, and loyal. They are also great with families and get along well with strangers and other dogs. Cavapoos are also known as great emotional support dogs.

Personally, we had looked for great temperaments for our parents and made sure to have genetic and other health testing completed. This way we can feel confident you are getting a healthy dog with a great personality. :)

Have they had their first set of shots and deworming?

Yes, they get their first set of shots before they come home with you. They will also be dewormed and you will get a copy of all this information when you get your puppy. Then when you take your puppy for their first vet check, bring this paper to show what the puppy has been given.

Do you keep all the parents at your home?

I do not keep everyone at my own home. I feel that having too many dogs in one home takes away from the attention given to each dog. Therefore I foster out some parents to guardian homes. That way they are loved every day and get all the attention they deserve :) I only allow select families to be guardians of our amazing dogs. If you are ever interested in being a foster/guardian for one of my dogs, feel free to can contact me. All guardian homes have to live close by, around an hour or less distance from my home.

How do you start potty training?

The puppies will not be fully potty trained. We start to potty train them with potty pads and litter box training. When they are old enough they will start to use potty pads and then we start litter box training. Litter box training is when we use alfalfa pellets in a litter box that smell similar to grass.

When can the puppy go home?

Your puppy can go home after they are 8-9 weeks old, never before 8 weeks.

Can we come see our puppy before we take him/her home?

Yes, you can come to see the puppy before they go home. Although that is only after they have had their first set of shots and are old enough. We try to keep people out of the house and away from the puppies until they are old enough to go home. This reason being, they are susceptible to many horrible diseases that can be dragged in from shoes or other pets that could cause harm to the puppies. So we actually prefer to do facetime to reduce this risk. We do post weekly pictures of the puppies to keep you up to date and close to your puppy.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Yes, everyone must sign a contract for one of my puppies. This contract also ensures that you get a one-year health guarantee. It also states we have a strict spay/neuter policy. Which means we DO NOT allow breeding rights. These puppies are meant to go to family homes. This contract also transfers the ownership of the puppy to you.

Can you help me pick a dog that matches our families wants/needs?

Yes, I would love to help you find a puppy that fits your family. :) Whether that is a certain size or personality. Since I am with the puppies I watch how they mature and develop as they get older. You normally can't tell their personality until they get a little older in age. I start to see personalities when they begin to walk and play with their siblings.

Do cavapoos shed?

Very little which is why they are great dogs for people with allergies. :) No dog is completely non-shedding. I do plan to eventually have a litter with a cavapoo and poodle which will decrease the little shedding even more. Please contact me if you have any other questions or concerns.

How long can cavapoos be left alone at home?

Your dog will be alright at home alone while you are at work. They will begin to learn your routine and be okay with it. There are many people lucky enough to stay home, and that will always be one of my first choices, but I understand that is not always possible. Now if you are working long days, more than 8 hours, I would recommend for you to have a way for them to go potty. Either by themselves in a safe environment (fenced in yard with doggie door) or have someone let them out for you. We have a camera out back to monitor our dogs when we let them out while at work. We also invested in a automatic sliding door opener that we control from our phone.

If for any reason I cannot keep the puppy will you take it back?

Yes, we will take our puppy back! This is also stated in the contract before getting your puppy. Please contact us first if you can no longer care for your puppy.

Do you provide a health guarantee?

Yes, we provide a 1-year health guarantee on congenital defects. It can become a 2-year health guarantee if your dog is kept on NuVet. You can learn more about NuVet from the "NuVet Plus" tab at the top under "more".

Do you do health testing?

Yes, we make sure all our parents are genetically tested to be sure they will produce healthy puppies. For cavaliers, we test for degenerative myelopathy (DM), dry eye curly coat syndrome, episodic falling syndrome.  For the poodle, we test for DM, GM2 gangliosidosis, osteochondrodysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy for progressive rod-cone degeneration and rod-cone dysplasia 4, and Von Willebrand disease I. We also further test and complete OFA certification for eyes, heart, patellas, and hips.

Do you remove dewclaws?

Their dewclaws are removed to prevent any snagging of their claw. This is done within the first week the puppies are born.

How often do your moms have puppies?

Most of our moms are in guardian homes. This way they start and stay in their forever home. The max amount of litters would be 4. Sometimes they may have less than 4 litters. It all depends on health of mom and puppies, temperament of puppies and how she does as a mommy in general. We consider our dogs family first before anything else.
